Humans Seek Similar Mates
It would seem that from an evolutionary psychology point of view humans are prone to avoiding excessive genetic variation in their offspring. In other words they prefer similar mates (usually of a similiar ethnicity). An interesting article from the Universidad Simón Bolívar, Caracas, Venezuela.
to quote: "Living organisms seem to optimize rather than maximize outbreeding" so ideally one would not want to excessively inbreed or excessively out breed. Some have suggested second cousins as an ideal balance to maintaining a tribal blood line.
